Memories of St Thomas Becket

One response to “Memories of St Thomas Becket”
Dear Matthew and members of St Thomas’s,
I am sorry that Jean and I won’t be able to be with you this coming
Saturday for the 400th Anniversary Service. We are having work done on
our house here in London and it is impossible to be away at this time.
Moreover our daughter-in -law has just given birth to a son so it is
good that we can around here in London this week. Nevertheless our
thoughts and prayers will be with you all at you celebrate a great
event in the history of the Chaplaincy, indeed in the Diocese of
Europe. We give you our blessings for the future of the church in
Hamburg; may it flourish as a beacon for Christ, not only for all
English speaking people in Hamburg but for the other churches and
communities there, as you reach out to them in ecumenical unity.
We look back to our time in Hamburg as your last locum with great
affection. You all made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed the
fellowship we had with you all, and the excitement and exhilaration of
living in such a diverse and beautiful city, with all its culture and
vibrance. We miss it, despite living in an equally exciting city!
With all best wishes to you all,
Yours in Christ,
Jean and Clifford Poole
