How to be a Hamburger with Mark Lyndon

How to be a Hamburger with Mark Lyndon

Mark Lyndon

Mark Lyndon looks back over 30 years of dealing with the Hamburgers. In this satirical survey he asks why the Hamburgers are so fascinating and what could be so funny about these cool northern Germans, who are known to be rather reserved and serious.  Having lived in Hamburg for 30 years, and had many adventures with the Hamburgers, Mark is still not sure whether he understands them! As Mark shares his experiences, British humour meets north German reserve and the combination is sure to make you laugh.  The Hamburgers might even also learn a thing or two about themselves…… Tickets available from Classic Centre Alster Haus and Hamburger Abendblatt ticket outlets. PLEASE NOTE A FEW 10 EURO TICKETS ONLY LEFT! >>>

The British in Hamburg 1945 – 1958

Michael Ahrens describes the organisation and everyday life of the British occupation in Hamburg and its protagonists as well as British-German cooperation. The internal constitution of the “British community” in Hamburg, with all its priorities, conflicts and problems, is portrayed here for the first time, including the scantly researched first phase of the occupation in May 1945 and British organisation and infrastructure. The lecture, based on a recently published study (Die Briten in Hamburg. Besatzerleben 1945 – 1958, Michael Ahrens, Dölling und Galitz Verlag, 2011), describes varied aspects of the daily life and leisure activities of the members of the occupation, such as binational love life and contacts through clubs and associations. >>>
